Terraforming is the ability to alter the landscape to make it more favorable to place new buildings, make new routes, or to allow Settlements to expand more.
To access the Terraforming Tool. Players will either hit “T” on their keyboard or click the Terraforming Icon in the lower menu. This will open another menu will appear that displays all of the Terraforming Tools
- Raise/Lower
- Flatten
- Plant Trees
In order to Terraform, the Player must own the Full Regional Permit in that Region. Not Owning a Permit in adjacent Regions will affect how some of the tools will react. (See below).
Selection[]
When a Player wishes to use the tools illustrated in this document they will first need to select the tiles that they wish to terraform. This is done by selecting the desired tool and then left click+hold and drag the mouse over the area you wish to Terraform.
When this happens the Vertices of the tiles will appear as small dots. This will indicate what area will be changed by the Terraforming.
As the Player is selecting tiles, a tooltip will appear to show the size (length x width x height), amount of tiles, and price per tile (1,000 per tile selected)
Raise/Lower[]
Will either Raise or Lower the selected Terrain by at least 1 tile increment.
To do this the Player will first select the area to Terraform and release the Left Mouse Button + Hold from Selecting.
From there they can Left Mouse Button + Hold anywhere in the selected area and move the mouse up or down to raise or lower the Tiles by 1 tile. Doing so will change the adjacent tiles to form 1 tile ramps from the Top Tile(s) to the next increment down. If the Player raises the Tile(s) more than 1 increment the radius of the ramps will increase equal to the increments raised/lowered. (See below).
The Player will be able to Raise a tile up +12 increments high and Lower a tile down to -6 increments. The maximum or minimum can be less than +12/-6 if the area affected would overlap into a Region that the Player does not own a permit for.
Example:
- Player Selects a tile to raise that is within 4 tiles of a Region they don’t own a permit for, which means the maximum the Player can Raise or Lower that tile is 4 increments.
When a Player hits this edge the Tooltip will turn Red and disallow the Player to increase the size of the Terraforming. If a Player wishes to Raise/Lower tiles around Buildings and Roads the Raise/Lower will still function but will ignore those tiles occupied by a Building or Road. The Player will also be restricted on how much they can Raise/Lower an area by how close those tiles are to the buildings because the Ramps would Terraform the land the Buildings and roads are on. It has to be clear that with Terraforming you cannot:
- Remove resources, roads, buildings... anything
- Have cliffs (90’ drops), only ramps
Example:
- Player Selects a tile to raise that is within 2 tiles away from a cluster of buildings which means the maximum the Player can Raise or Lower the tile is 2 increments.
When they are done they can release Left Mouse Button + Hold.
Flatten[]
When the Player selects and releases the Left Mouse Button + Hold, the Tiles selected will become the same height as the first tile selected.
If the Player attempts to Flatten into a Region where they do not have a Permit for, the tooltip and area will appear in red and will only flatten the area that is within the Region the Player owns the permit for.
If a Player wishes to Flatten tiles around Buildings and Roads the Flatten will still function but will ignore those tiles occupied by a Building or Road.
When they are done they can release Left Mouse Button + Hold.
Plant Trees[]
With this Tool, the Player are able to place Trees on valid tiles within a circular area that is centered on the player’s cursor. These Trees count as Resources Nodes for the Gatherer Lumberyard.
This area always starts out with a radius of 1 tile.
