Raw Resources are Products collected from Resource Nodes that are placed on the map at World Generation. You use Gatherers to collect the Raw Resource from Nodes to create the various Products you will need to be a successful industrialist.
There are three major ways Raw Resources behave in-game:
- Raw Resource be collected infinitely from the Resource Tiles.
- Raw Resource Node has a limited amount of units available. Once depleted the Node is useless.
- Raw Resource Node has a limited amount of units available, but can more can be planted or spawned.
Sand and Water are the only Raw Resources that can be collected infinitely from a single location. All you have to do is place the Harvester on or near a Resource Tile (Sand and Water tiles), and it will collect the Raw Resource and send it to the Gatherer.
Coal, Copper, Gas, Iron, and Oil Resource Nodes are a limited Raw Resource. These Gatherers will need to be built in proximity to their corresponding Raw Resource before any Harvesters can be built to collect it.
Once these Nodes are depleted there is no more to collect. If more is needed, it can be purchased Raw Resources from Wholesalers in Settlements or from the State. Both will sell the Raw Resource with a high markup, so make sure it is profitable for you to do so.
Lastly, we have Fish and Wood. Both Raw Resource function similarly to other finite Raw Resources but are renewable. Fish nodes will respawn in various other locations after their initial Nodes become depleted.
Wood Nodes or Trees deplete fairly quickly, but if you use the Plant Tree tool in the Terraforming menu, you can plant new Trees. After planting a Sapling, it will take a little while for the Tree to mature enough for you the Harvester it. With enough coordination, you can collect these Raw Resources infinitely.
Resource Richness[]
Most Raw Resource Nodes have a limited number of units it can produce of a Raw Resource based on difficulty and an RNG range.
*All values are subject to change.
Resource Amount | Very Scarce | Scarce | Normal | Rich | Very Rich |
Wood / Tree (renewable) | 6 | 9 | 12 | 15 | 18 |
Copper/Iron/Coal | 1000-2000 | 2000-3000 | 3000-4000 | 4000-5000 | 5000-6000 |
Oil/Gas | 1000-1500 | 1500-2500 | 2500-3500 | 3500-4500 | 4500-5000 |
Fish (renewable) | 750-1250 | 1000-1500 | 1500-2000 | 1750-2250 | 2000-2500 |
Sand | ∞ | ∞ | ∞ | ∞ | ∞ |
Water (It’s everywhere) | ∞ | ∞ | ∞ | ∞ | ∞ |
Except for Water and Sand, each Mineral Raw Resource will spawn with many tiles around the central node tile, but they all draw from the same pool of resource, so it does not matter what tiles are chosen when placing the harvesters, as all the tiles of the same node disappear once the node itself is depleted. All Mineral Raw Resources spawn with exactly 5 tiles per node.
Some Raw Resource Node will either Respawn or are renewable.
- Fish - Fish will respawn after a short period of time (3-6 months) after being depleted, at another location, but nearby (5-15 tiles away).
- Trees - Trees can be replanted using the Terraforming tool.
- Newly planted Trees will grow for a period of time (3 years) before they are able to be harvested by Lumberyard harvesters.
Some Resources like Water and Sand do not have a limit due to their massive quantity on the map.
Because of all these changes, harvesters are now free. Need to increase the overall gatherer cost.
Spawn Rules[]
Considering right now we don't have biomes, rules are very simple:
Land:
- Resource nodes can only spawn at least 5 tiles away from
- hill slopes
- coast tiles
- map border
- Resource nodes can only spawn at least 15 tiles away from
- another node
Water:
- Resource nodes can only spawn at least 5 tiles away from
- coast tiles
- Resource nodes can only spawn at least 15 tiles away from
- another node
Resource Categorization[]
Land:
- Mineral:
- Iron Ore
- Coal
- Oil
- Gas
- Trees
Water:
- Fish
- Oil
Note: sand and water are not specified as they are gathered freely with the help of coastal gatherers.
